Editorial review

“This new independent annual Industry Navigator 2026 analysis provides valuable insights into current transformer market trends and the industry’s critical business pillars, while offering detailed perspectives on key topics over time.

The market has experienced remarkable growth over the past several years and is expected to continue expanding for many years to come. However, this growth also brings significant challenges, including increasing lead times for bushings, regional tensions in GOES supply, and the ongoing need for skilled manpower, as highlighted in previous Industry Navigator edition.

This report highlights the critical factors required to make these new capacities effective and sustainable, while clearly identifying key constraints such as material shortages, testing capabilities, and workforce availability.

I am convinced that stakeholders throughout the transformer sector will find this report highly valuable. It provides a comprehensive view of where the market is heading, the challenges that must be addressed, and the key drivers that will shape successful business strategies in the years ahead, regardless of the specific segment in which they operate.”

Executive Editor of Transformer Magazine

About the report

Based on one of our broadest annual transformer-market research programmes to date, this report brings together findings from more than 260 variables to provide a comprehensive view of the industry’s current position and outlook towards 2030.

Has transformer demand reached a plateau, or when will it? This is one of the industry’s most pressing questions, but the answer is more complex than following a demand curve. Earlier ordering, inventory strategies, capacity expansion and changing supply-chain constraints can all influence the market signals we see today.

Building on three consecutive Industry Navigator research programmes (2024–2026), the report examines how demand, capacity, lead times, investment, workforce, complexity and resilience interact across the transformer value chain. It explores regional differences, emerging risks and the factors that could shift the market towards a new balance.

Beyond identifying today’s bottlenecks, the report provides decision-makers with a deeper understanding of where the market stands, what may be changing and which signals deserve attention when planning for the years ahead.
