A well-established EPC implementing optimized power infrastructure across multiple energy sources is hiring a MV/HV Substation Engineer. This person will provide technical leadership in the design and execution of medium/high-voltage substation projects from concept through commissioning. This role ensures the delivery of compliant, cost-effective, and reliable engineering solutions while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of MV and HV substations up to 500 kV.
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, substation layouts, protection and control schematics, grounding systems, and AC/DC auxiliary systems.
  • Specify major equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, instrument transformers, and protection relays.
  • Perform and review engineering studies (e.g., short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and grounding).
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, NEC, and NERC standards as well as client specifications.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and serve as a technical liaison with clients, utilities, and vendors.
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including review of vendor drawings and participation in FAT/SAT when required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 6+ years MV/HV Substation design experience (P&C or physical)
  • Customer facing experience is a bonus
  • PE/EIT certificates are preferred (not required)
