Transformers have an important place in modern systems. In addition to standard transmission and distribution applications, there are special type transformers to ensure the operation of current systems. These transformers have specific application areas and, accordingly, special requirements that they must fulfill. Examples of these sectors include data centers, solar systems, wind power plants, energy storage facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, railway systems, offshore facilities, and marine applications. Different types of transformers specific to these applications can be used. Furthermore, there are parameters that must be carefully evaluated in the design processes of these special type transformers. In this study, examples are given for the relevant special type transformers and design parameters.
