Noise is a complex, multiphysics problem that can cause headaches to the transformer designers in the design phase and to owners in the exploitation phase. One of the noise reduction methods developed by Pechom is the jacketing solution, which is effective and economical.
This article by Suat Sezer Ertan discusses solutions to acoustic noise problems in transformers. Details of the noise origin and noise measurement are presented. In addition, we analyze the jacketing method for noise reduction, and its advantages over conventional solutions are given for the transformers’ and reactors’ applications.
