The statistical scatter of breakdown voltages of transformer oil – Part II

Vitaly Gurin and Marius Grisaru explore the impact of voltage rise rate and gap spacing on the coefficients of variation (CV%) of transformer oil breakdown voltage.

In the second part of their article, Vitaly Gurin and Marius Grisaru explore the impact of voltage rise rate and gap spacing on the coefficients of variation (CV%) of transformer oil breakdown voltage (BDV). Studies suggest that the CV% decreases linearly with higher voltage rise rates and linearly with the logarithm of gap spacing, highlighting the importance of consistent reporting of CV% in insulation studies.
