Germany, Ratingen: Paul Rauschert Steinbach GmbH has introduced a new energy management system using Mitsubishi Electric’s GENESIS platform.

The factory, with over 120 years of history, previously relied on outdated tools that provided separate data from multiple buildings without clear visualisation. Energy peaks, particularly in winter, could not be explained, while monthly reports required manual preparation of lengthy spreadsheets. EU reporting obligations further increased the workload.

The GENESIS platform connects existing energy meters and collects historical data for analysis. It enables real-time monitoring across all buildings, allowing operators to detect consumption peaks immediately. Using visual power distribution diagrams, users can trace issues from the overall facility down to specific equipment or sections.

Automated reporting has replaced manual compilation. Data for compliance can now be extracted with a single action, including electricity, gas, water, cost and carbon information. The system also allows detailed analysis of assets to identify sources of inefficiency.

The change has reduced the time required for analysing energy peaks from hours to minutes. Instead of combining data from multiple systems, staff now have a single, integrated view of energy use.

The case shows how established industrial facilities can adopt modern monitoring tools without disrupting operations, while improving efficiency and simplifying reporting.
