Canada, British Columbia: Two new power transformers weighing 85 tons each have arrived in Merritt for BC Hydro’s Merritt substation.
The transformers were transported from Korea over a period of five weeks. They arrived in Vancouver by freight and were then driven by a flatbed truck to Merritt via the Coquilhalla Highway.
The new transformers are being installed as part of BC Hydro’s Merritt Area Transmission project, which involves building a new 35-kilometre transmission line between two Merritt-area substations and upgrades within both substations.
