USA, North Carolina, Morrisville: DG Matrix and Skeleton Technologies have announced a strategic technical and commercial collaboration to support the data centre industry’s transition to 800 VDC power infrastructure.
The companies will integrate Skeleton’s high-power, fast-response energy storage systems with DG Matrix’s galvanically isolated Interport™ multi-port solid-state transformer platform.
The collaboration covers several DG Matrix solutions, including the Interport CM medium-voltage SST skid, which converts 12–34.5 kV AC directly to high-voltage DC, as well as Interport CL and Interport Flex products for white space and grey space data centre applications.
According to the companies, the combined technology is designed to address one of the key power challenges in modern AI data centres: extreme and repetitive pulse loads generated by GPU clusters. These loads can exceed the dynamic response capabilities of the grid, as well as conventional UPS and battery systems.
Skeleton’s systems are engineered to respond from microseconds to minutes, absorbing peak loads before they affect upstream infrastructure. DG Matrix’s Interport platform routes power in real time across AC and DC sources, loads and storage at multiple voltage levels.
The companies said the joint platform can absorb load transients, support fault ride-through and deliver backup power with the speed and cycle life required by AI workloads.
Recent research from SemiAnalysis projects that around 39 GW of incremental AI data centre capacity will be served by 800 VDC architecture by 2030, with a solid-state transformer total addressable market of approximately $13 B.
