Saudi Arabia, Riyadh: Alfanar Projects has signed a contract with National Grid SA to construct a new 132/13.8 kV substation for Expo 2030 Riyadh.
The substation will form part of the wider electrical network being developed to provide reliable, high-capacity power to the Expo site and its associated infrastructure.
The contract was signed by Sabah Almutlaq, Vice Chairman of Alfanar and Managing Director of Alfanar Projects, and Waleed AlSaadi, CEO of National Grid SA.
Expo 2030 Riyadh is being developed across approximately 6 million square metres and is expected to attract more than 42 million visits, with participation from 197 nations and 29 international organisations.
Under the contract, Alfanar Projects will be responsible for construction of the 132/13.8 kV substation, supporting electricity distribution across the development and strengthening the dedicated power network serving the event.
The project adds to wider infrastructure investment in Riyadh as Saudi Arabia prepares for Expo 2030 and advances projects linked to Saudi Vision 2030.
The signing ceremony was also attended by senior representatives from Saudi Energy and Expo 2030 Riyadh, including Khalid bin Salem AlGhamdi, Talal AlMarri and Abdulaziz Alaqel.
