Montenegro, Mojkovac: Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem (CGES) has completed the replacement of a 150 MVA transformer at the Mojkovac substation.

The new 220 / 110 / 10.5 kV transformer, valued at $2.6 M (€2.2 M), has been commissioned following works that lasted slightly more than a month.

The project replaces a transformer that had been in operation for decades and forms part of CGES’s programme to modernise Montenegro’s transmission infrastructure.

“All technical and organizational challenges have been successfully overcome, and the new transformer, worth 2,2 million euros, has been put into operation and is ready to contribute to a safer and more reliable functioning of the power system,” CGES said.

CGES has also replaced a 150 MVA transformer at the Podgorica 1 substation. The two units were originally procured as part of a broader investment programme aimed at improving network reliability, flexibility and security of supply.
