UK: Collett & Sons has deployed its newly acquired 350-t Greiner modular girder bridge system on a major contract for GE, transporting large power transformers from GE’s Stafford facility to Ellesmere Port. The project, launched in June 2025, will see 35 girder frame loads delivered in total.

Manufactured by Greiner Heavy Engineering, the new bridge features a fully modular structure with interchangeable beams and adjustable side decks, allowing configurations from 2×8 to 2×18 axles. The system’s flexibility supports a wide range of trailer types and heavy-load profiles.

For the GE operation, Collett paired the bridge with its new Goldhofer THP/SL-L modular axles, each capable of handling 26.1 t per line. The combination enhances ground pressure distribution and provides improved manoeuvrability for complex heavy-haul transport.

Managing Director David Collett said the investment “completes the jigsaw” of the company’s engineered heavy transport fleet. “It was introduced specifically to meet a client requirement and strengthen our capabilities. It is great to see the system performing exactly as intended on its first deployment,” he added.

The addition of the 350-t Greiner bridge strengthens Collett’s position in infrastructure, energy, and industrial transport sectors, complementing its existing fleet of modular trailers and hydraulic systems.
