Taiwan: Developer Synera Renewable Energy has awarded a contract to a consortium of Semco Maritime and PTSC for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the offshore substation for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm, located off the coast of Miaoli County, Taiwan.
Semco Maritime will lead the engineering, procurement and commissioning of the medium- and high-voltage electrical systems as well as auxiliary platform systems. PTSC will handle the procurement of the remaining topside equipment and materials and will carry out fabrication of the topside at its yard in Vung Tau, Vietnam.
Thomas Thomsen, Senior Vice President of Renewables at Semco Maritime, said the consortium would draw on its joint experience in Taiwan to deliver a high-quality result and support the continued development of the country’s offshore wind industry.
To Ngoc Tu, Managing Director of PTSC, added that strong partnership and collaboration would be key to ensuring the project’s success.
Delivery of the substation is planned for the end of 2027, marking another milestone in Taiwan’s fast-growing offshore wind sector.
