Ghana: The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has commissioned 37 new transformers across parts of the Ashanti Region as part of efforts to improve electricity supply and address ongoing low-voltage issues.

The company said the project was carried out by the Ashanti West Operational Zone under a larger capital investment programme backed by the Ministry of Energy.

Several communities are expected to benefit from the upgrade, including Abuakwa, Adum Ahinsan, Danyame, Ahinsan, Bibiani Kokoben, Suame and parts of Offinso.

According to ECG, the additional transformers are aimed at reducing the load on existing equipment, much of which has been operating at or beyond capacity because of increasing electricity demand in rapidly expanding communities.

The company believes the improvements will help strengthen power distribution and provide more stable electricity supplies for residents and businesses in the affected areas.
