Spain: Efacec has secured a contract worth more than $58 M (€50 M) from Red Eléctrica, Spain’s transmission system operator, to supply power transformers for the national grid through to 2027. The agreement strengthens the company’s established position in Spain and its role in delivering complex solutions for critical energy infrastructure.
Under the contract, Efacec will be responsible for the design, manufacturing, delivery, and full technical support of several power transformers adapted to Red Eléctrica’s high-voltage network. The partnership builds on an existing relationship, including the recent delivery of a 500 MVA, 420 kV multi-voltage transformer, which serves as a strategic reserve unit to improve grid reliability and operational security.
The contract was awarded after a competitive selection process that assessed technical capability, experience with high-capacity transformers, and expertise in managing logistics and on-site installation. Efacec will apply advanced engineering approaches and eco-design principles, supported by strict quality standards, to enhance efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance across the transmission system.
This new agreement further reinforces Efacec’s footprint in Europe, where Spain remains a key market. The company continues to develop long-term partnerships with transmission and distribution operators, supporting the strengthening and resilience of electricity networks.
