Brazil: Eletrobras, Brazil’s power transmission operator, has partnered with C3 AI to implement artificial intelligence in the management of its network. The initiative will introduce the C3 AI Grid Intelligence tool across all Eletrobras transmission assets.

The platform applies advanced data analytics to detect, monitor, and address faults in real time. According to the companies, this will increase the resilience and reliability of Brazil’s grid by enabling faster identification and correction of failures.

Eletrobras’ decision comes as global investment in electrical networks grows in response to increasingly complex generation portfolios and the need to safeguard infrastructure against extreme weather events. In Brazil, fires near transmission lines and substations represent a major operational challenge.

“By modernising critical network monitoring processes, we can respond to incidents more effectively and ensure stability and availability,” said Pablo Flores, Executive Manager of Protection, Automation and Control of Operating Systems at Eletrobras.

The agreement reflects a wider trend towards the application of artificial intelligence in grid operation, particularly in transmission systems that must handle diverse and intermittent energy sources. While the value of the deal was not disclosed, the investment highlights the role of digital technologies in strengthening the country’s power infrastructure.
