USA, Texas, Arlington: Enphase Energy has started manufacturing 4 kW power modules in Texas for its IQ Solid-State Transformer, moving the development programme towards full-scale rack assembly and validation.

Hundreds of the modules are designed to operate together in IQ SST racks with capacities of up to 5 MW. The system is being developed to convert medium-voltage AC directly to 800 VDC for AI data centres, with validation planned across input levels from 13.8 kV to 34.5 kV.

Each module incorporates a proprietary high-frequency transformer developed by Enphase, together with gallium nitride power-switching technology and the company’s Kestrel control ASIC.

Validation will cover electrical and thermal performance, conversion efficiency, distributed control, redundancy and partial-discharge characteristics. Enphase plans to assemble complete IQ SST racks in Texas as system-level testing progresses.

Full-system demonstrations are expected in November 2026, followed by customer pilots planned for 2027.
