France: Hitachi Energy has signed long-term framework agreements worth $398 M (€350 M) with French distribution system operator Enedis for the supply of distribution and power transformers and related lifecycle services.

The agreements are intended to secure long-term transformer availability as Enedis expands and modernises its electricity network. Hitachi Energy said the contracts will draw on its manufacturing operations in Italy and Poland and help address continuing constraints in global transformer supply.

The framework also includes environmental product declarations assessing transformer environmental performance across the product lifecycle, together with measures aimed at improving manufacturing performance during the contract period.

Lifecycle services and data-driven asset insights are also included, with the companies targeting reduced unplanned outages, improved transformer efficiency and longer asset life.

France aims to reduce the share of fossil fuels in its energy mix from 60 % to 40 % by 2030, increasing electricity demand from areas including renewable generation, electric mobility and industrial electrification.
