Ireland, Dublin: Hitachi Energy is investing $4.5 (€4 M) in a new service centre at Dublin North Park, scheduled to open in autumn 2026, to support grid resilience across Ireland.
Ireland’s electricity system is changing quickly, with rising demand driven by digitalisation, the growth of energy-intensive data centres and the increasing share of renewable generation. These trends are creating a stronger need for reliable lifecycle services and modernisation of ageing energy infrastructure.
The new facility will expand Hitachi Energy’s ability to support critical grid assets, including transformers, switchgear, breakers and digital services. The company said the centre reflects its long-term commitment to innovation, partnerships and sustainability in Ireland.
The service centre will also include customer training facilities and a customer operations centre, supporting utilities, industries and data centres as they work to maintain secure and reliable electricity supply.
The investment forms part of Hitachi Energy’s wider $1 B global programme to expand service capacity and portfolio, while developing more than 5,000 additional service experts worldwide.
According to the company, the Dublin centre will improve operational efficiency through optimised workflows, modern equipment and a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards.
Enterprise Minister Peter Burke said the investment underlines Ireland’s reputation as a centre for innovation and skilled talent. Laura Fleming, Country Managing Director UK & Ireland at Hitachi Energy, said the new centre will support a more resilient, sustainable and integrated energy future.
IDA Ireland also welcomed the announcement, saying the facility will help strengthen Ireland’s electricity grid as demand grows and more renewables are connected.
