Philippines, Nueva Ecija: Hitachi Energy has supplied 10 power transformers rated at 260 MVA each and 14 earthing transformers for a large solar and battery storage project in the Philippines.
The development is designed to combine 3,500 MWp of solar generation with 4,500 MWh of battery storage across approximately 3,500 hectares in Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.
The project will connect to the Luzon grid through a 13 km, 500 kV transmission network. The supplied transformers form part of the electrical infrastructure required to transfer power from the site to the transmission system, while the earthing transformers provide grounding and fault-protection functions.
Phase 1 was energised in July 2026, bringing 1,373 MW of solar capacity and 825 MW / 3,300 MWh of battery storage online.
Full completion is planned for 2027. According to the project information, the completed development is expected to supply electricity equivalent to around 12 % of Philippine demand and approximately 2.4 million homes.
The project supports the Philippines’ target of increasing renewable energy to 35 % of generation by 2030 and 50% by 2040.
