USA, Tennessee, Alamo: Hitachi Energy has announced a $97 M investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Crockett County. The project will add 100 jobs and increase the company’s production of transformer components, including HVDC bushings.
The expansion reflects growing demand for electricity infrastructure as grids modernise and integrate more renewable energy. Company officials said the investment will strengthen global supply capacity while reinforcing Hitachi Energy’s presence in the United States.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter joined company leaders for the announcement on 20 August. Both highlighted the benefits for local employment and the regional economy.
“It is always an exciting day when we can celebrate a company’s continued commitment to growth in the region,” said John Bradley, senior vice president of economic development for the Tennessee Valley Authority. “We are proud to support companies like Hitachi Energy as they expand their presence in the US.”
The Alamo facility has long played a role in producing components essential for transmission and distribution networks. With the expansion, Hitachi Energy aims to enhance its capacity to serve the increasing demand for transformer technology both domestically and internationally.
