USA, Virginia, Wytheville: JST Power Equipment has opened a new manufacturing facility in Wytheville, Virginia, further expanding its production network. The company operates additional factories in China, Mexico, Malaysia and the United States.

Founded in 1993 as a cast resin transformer manufacturer, JST has gradually broadened its product range and manufacturing capabilities. Its portfolio now includes cast resin and VPI transformers, gas-insulated and air-insulated switchgear, power transformers, and substation equipment produced across multiple international sites.

The new Virginia facility is intended to support local manufacturing for customers in the United States, including factory testing and regional delivery. The site is scheduled to hold its official opening on 19 May, with customers and local officials expected to attend.

JST supplies equipment to utilities, data centre operators, renewable energy developers and industrial customers. The company has also delivered more than three gigawatts of battery energy storage systems across various projects.

In its sustainability strategy, JST reports that around 60% of its global energy consumption comes from renewable sources, with a target of reaching 100% by 2030. The company has also outlined plans to develop fully recyclable transformers by 2040.

The company states that its manufacturing approach is based on distributed production across multiple regions, with facilities positioned closer to key customer markets.
