Croatia, Zagreb: On 18 December, KONČAR – Digital, a member of the KONČAR Group, has signed a framework agreement with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia (MORH) for the development and production of counter-drone protection systems. The agreement runs until 2029 and has a total value of $146 M (€125 M) excluding VAT.

The procurement covers four systems in total: two stationary systems intended to protect critical military infrastructure, and two mobile systems. Within the project, KONČAR – Digital will act as the system integrator for the complete solution, as well as the manufacturer of selected system components.

This contract is of particular importance for the KONČAR Group, as it marks a strategic step into the fast-growing and high-technology defence and security sector. An added value of the project lies in reducing reliance on foreign suppliers, while at the same time strengthening the domestic defence industry through knowledge transfer and localisation of part of the production in Croatia.

Looking ahead, KONČAR plans an even stronger global expansion with a modern, digitalised portfolio of products, solutions and services for the energy, industrial and transport sectors. Alongside further internationalisation and a stronger presence in markets such as the United States and the Middle East through local operations and new partnerships, the Group will continue to develop its digital solutions and dual-use technologies.

The company remains focused on investment in research and development, capacities, people and strategic acquisitions. Special emphasis is placed on ICT systems and components for both civil and defence applications, using shared architectures and standards to enable efficient development, easier adaptation and higher interoperability, without compromising security or regulatory requirements.
