Croatia, Sesvetski Kraljevec: KONČAR and Siemens Energy opened a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sesvetski Kraljevec, marking a major step forward for Croatian industry and the European power sector. The plant is operated by KONČAR – Transformer Tanks (KTT), a joint venture majority-owned by KONČAR (60 %) with Siemens Energy holding 40 %, building on more than three decades of close cooperation between the two companies.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives of both partners, alongside Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Marko Primorac. The new factory responds directly to the sharp global rise in demand for transformers, with transformer tanks being a critical component for transmission and distribution networks.
The joint venture was formalised in July 2024, following Siemens Energy’s acquisition of a 40 % stake in the company. The partnership enables capacity growth, shared expertise, and a stronger global market position, while supporting job creation and innovation in Croatia.
“This collaboration demonstrates KONČAR’s industrial credibility and strength. With its 6,000 employees and presence in 140 markets worldwide, KONČAR truly stands as a flagship of domestic manufacturing, exports, and the development of the Croatian industry. I am pleased to see such a well‑structured manufacturing facility taking shape, one that will create as many as 400 new jobs,” said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.

During the event, a live stream connected attendees with KONČAR – Power Transformers (KPT), the first Joint Venture between KONČAR and Siemens Energy operational since 1995. It highlighted strategic projects KPT1 and KPT2, aiming to double capacity by 2031 while improving safety and sustainability
