Brazil, Brasília: Neoenergia Brasília, an Iberdrola subsidiary, has announced a $610 M (R$3.1 B) investment programme for the Federal District’s electricity system, covering the period from 2026 to 2030.

The plan will focus on expanding, modernising and digitalising the electricity distribution network. According to the company, the investment is intended to improve service quality and reliability while preparing the Federal District for future growth.

The programme represents the largest investment cycle in the history of the concession and begins with the commissioning of the Guará 2 substation.

The new substation increases network capacity and is expected to benefit more than 180,000 people.

Neoenergia also plans to commission five additional substations by 2030 as part of the wider network development programme.

The investment is being carried as part of the group’s broader commitment to electrification in Brazil.
