Spain, Catalonia: Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electrical system in Spain, has completed the construction of the final section of the 220 kV line between the Mas Figueres and Palau substations, located in the town of Palau-solità i Plegamans in the Vallés region (Barcelona). This connection will improve the electricity supply across the region and drive industrial development in the area.
The final stretch of the line, which was awaiting the urban development of an industrial estate in the town of Palau-solità i Plegamans, is one kilometre long and has been laid underground, avoiding the installation of overhead lines and their impact on the environment. The works, which took six months to complete, represent an investment of €7.15 million. A portion of the budget was allocated to an environmental restoration plan aiming to double the forest area in the vicinity.
This is an important project for the region, strengthening its industry and economy. The commissioning of this new infrastructure will enhance the quality and security of the electricity supply to the towns of the Riera de Caldes. The investment advances the goals of the ecological transition by contributing to the decarbonisation of industrial processes, services, and transport in the region.
