Germany: Munich Airport (Flughafen München GmbH) has awarded an offshore wind power purchase agreement (PPA) to RWE following a competitive tender launched in early 2025.

The contract, signed on 19 December 2025, covers the supply of 40 GWh of electricity per year for a period of ten years. The electricity will be sourced from a new offshore wind farm expected to enter commercial operation in 2026, or no later than 1 January 2028.

As a transitional arrangement, if the offshore wind farm comes online later than 2026, RWE may supply electricity from an existing wind farm between 2026 and 31 December 2027, with the latest possible start of delivery from an existing plant being 1 January 2027. Regardless of the start date, the main contract period remains ten years from the beginning of delivery.

This agreement aligns with Munich Airport’s commitment to sourcing renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions across its operations.

RWE’s next major offshore wind project in Germany is the 660 MW Nordseecluster A wind farm, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and full commissioning in early 2027.
