Germany, Essen: RWE has announced a leadership change in its offshore wind division, with CEO Sven Utermöhlen set to step down at the end of September 2026.
Utermöhlen will leave the role on 30 September and is expected to continue supporting the offshore wind business in an advisory capacity for a further six to twelve months, according to the company.
Tobias Keitel, currently serving as chief technology officer, will take over as CEO from 1 October 2026. He joined the management board in September 2025 and is responsible for engineering, procurement and construction, as well as health, safety, security and environmental areas.
Julian Garnsey will move into the role of CTO, succeeding Keitel. He is currently in charge of building four offshore wind projects located across four different countries.
RWE said these projects include Sofia in the UK, Nordseecluster in Germany, Thor in Denmark and OranjeWind in the Netherlands. Together, they are expected to deliver a total capacity of 4.8 GW, with 3.1 GW counted as net capacity for the company once completed.
Looking ahead, RWE aims to grow its offshore wind capacity by a net 5 GW by 2031.
