Germany, Munich: Siemens Energy has begun preparations to launch an independent brand, following its spin-off from Siemens AG in 2020 and the company’s subsequent development as a standalone business.
The new brand name will be Omterra, bringing together the current Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy entities under one shared name and brand umbrella. The rebranding process is expected to begin later this year and will be carried out in stages.
The move follows a time-limited licence agreement that allowed the company to continue using the Siemens Energy name after the spin-off. According to CEO Christian Bruch, the company is now strategically, operationally and financially well positioned to begin the transition to its own independent brand.
Bruch said the company has earned the trust of customers and capital markets, improved profitability and set ambitious growth plans for the coming years. He added that the Siemens name had helped open doors during the company’s path to independence, while its legacy would remain an inspiration.
With Omterra, the company aims to create an independent brand with global appeal. Siemens Energy said the new name reflects its international footprint, technological expertise and commitment to supporting reliable energy supplies worldwide.
The company stated that its strategic direction will remain unchanged for customers, business partners and employees, while the transition to the new brand will be implemented gradually.
