Germany / Northern Ireland: Siemens Energy has reached an agreement to acquire Camlin Group, a Northern Ireland-based company specialising in grid monitoring, analytics and asset digitalisation technologies.
The acquisition will expand Siemens Energy’s digital grid portfolio at a time when investment in electricity networks is increasing worldwide. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close before the end of 2026.
Power grids are facing growing pressure from ageing infrastructure, rising electrification, more variable loads and the rapid integration of renewable energy. This is increasing the need for digital technologies that can give grid operators real-time insight, support predictive maintenance and improve fault detection.
Through the acquisition, Siemens Energy will strengthen its capabilities in sensor-based monitoring, data analytics and software-enabled grid intelligence.
Camlin Group is headquartered in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. The company employs around 650 people, operates across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and Asia, and has revenue of more than $120 M (£90 M). It was founded in 2010 by a small group of engineers and has since expanded across energy and rail systems.
“Grid expansion and digitalisation are becoming decisive factors for energy security, economic growth and the energy transition,” said Tim Holt, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy.
Camlin Group CEO Peter Cunningham said business operations will continue as usual, with the existing leadership team remaining in place. He added that Siemens Energy’s scale, investment and global reach would support the company’s longer-term development.
