USA, Kansas: Officials in Augusta, KS, said that a snake was responsible for a power outage in the city on Saturday morning. The outage lasted about 36 minutes.
According to a report shared with the City Council Monday night, staff arrived at Electric Plant II’s substation and found the culprit, along with some scorch marks on a transformer. Luckily, no major damage was found, so the team reenergized the system and drove around town to make sure everything was back on.
The city didn’t specify what kind of snake caused the incident, only describing it “as a dead one”. Snake-related outages aren’t common, but a new substation going in at 525 W. 6th Ave. will help limit any potential disruptions like this in the future.
