India, Gujarat, Rajkot: A 20-year-old man died after the SUV he was driving crashed into a power transformer and an electricity pole near Ramrechi village in Talala taluka, Gir Somnath district.
According to local reports, Akshat Solanki was travelling from Jetpur towards Talala shortly after midnight on 20 July when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend near the village water tank.
The SUV veered off the road and struck a Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) transformer and an adjacent electricity pole. Rescue efforts were delayed because live electric wires had fallen after the collision, creating a risk of electrocution.
PGVCL officials disconnected the power supply before rescuers could safely remove the driver from the damaged vehicle. He was taken to Talala Government Hospital with critical injuries, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Talala police have registered a case of accidental death under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.
