Japan, Tokyo / Italy, Bibbiena: Tamura Corporation has agreed to acquire shares of Italian transformer manufacturer EMG Power Electric S.r.l. through its subsidiary TAMURA-EUROPE LIMITED. Following the transaction, EMG will become a consolidated subsidiary of Tamura.
The acquisition is part of Tamura’s medium-term strategy to expand its activities in clean energy and critical power infrastructure. The company said the move will strengthen its portfolio of large-scale transformers and reactors for medium-voltage applications.
EMG was founded in 2014 and is based in Bibbiena, Italy. The company designs and manufactures large-scale transformers and reactors, including vacuum pressure impregnated and cast resin dry-type transformers. Its products are used in applications such as rail traction, renewable energy, battery storage, marine systems and industrial power conversion.
After the acquisition, EMG is expected to serve as Tamura’s global centre of excellence for medium-voltage dry-type transformer technologies. According to the company, this will support technology transfer, manufacturing flexibility and global customer support in medium-voltage power conversion markets.
Tamura Corporation is a Japan-based electronics manufacturer active in electronic components, power electronics and related solutions. Its electronic components business includes large-scale transformers and reactors used in renewable energy, power conversion systems, power distribution equipment, uninterruptible power supplies and other electrical infrastructure.
