India, Karnataka: Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) has secured an order to supply generator transformers for the Kaiga Nuclear Power Project Units 5 and 6, marking the company’s entry into India’s nuclear power sector.
The order was placed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), which is involved in the project’s EPC delivery. The transformers will support power evacuation from two indigenous 700 MWe nuclear reactors, representing a combined generation capacity of 1,400 MW.
TARIL has indicated an execution period of approximately 35 months. The company classifies the contract as a “Large Order”, corresponding to an estimated value between $10.5 M (₹100 crore) and $52.5 M (₹500 crore).
The Kaiga award expands TARIL’s presence beyond conventional utility and renewable energy projects into the nuclear power segment, where equipment must meet demanding technical and regulatory requirements.
As of 30 June 2026, TARIL reported a consolidated unexecuted order book of approximately $697 M (fcggvm₹6,630 crore), compared with $551 M (₹5,246 crore) a year earlier.
The company has also recently secured major transformer and reactor orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited, reflecting continued demand for high-voltage equipment in India’s grid expansion programme.
