Netherlands, Arnhem: TenneT invested $6.850 B (€6.023 B)in the electricity grid in the first half of 2026, compared with $6.260 B (€5.504 B) in the same period last year.
The company said the investments support the expansion of onshore and offshore grid infrastructure, helping increase grid capacity, ease congestion and maintain security of electricity supply.
In the Netherlands, TenneT continued work on several major projects. The Zuidplaspolder substation near Rotterdam came into service, while progress continued on the Maasvlakte to connect three new offshore wind farms. The next construction phase of the Rilland–Tilburg high-voltage connection, linking Zeeland and Noord-Brabant, also began.
TenneT also reported progress in unlocking additional grid capacity through flexibility solutions. These included a 200 MW battery project in Noord-Brabant, 307 MW of flexible capacity with solar parks in the northern Netherlands and a further 260 MW in Zeeland, enabling 173 new or expanded connections.
In Germany, work advanced on major energy hub projects. Construction began on HeideHub, designed to integrate DC and AC networks and transport offshore wind power to demand centres. TenneT Germany also started construction on the Sengwarden energy hub, which will connect 4 GW of offshore wind power to the onshore grid.
The company said permitting challenges and limited space for development continue to put pressure on project timelines.
