Belgium, Brussels: Tree Energy Solutions (TES) has appointed Paul Smith as its new Chief Financial Officer, bringing more than 30 years of financial and strategic experience in the global energy sector.
Smith has previously held senior roles at BP, TNK-BP, Talisman Energy, Vesta Energy, and most recently Wintershall Dea, where he served as CFO and Executive Board Member. His background includes overseeing mergers, IPO preparations, and a $13.4 B (€11.5 B) strategic sale, as well as advancing carbon management and hydrogen projects in Europe.
The appointment comes as TES continues to expand its European import infrastructure and develop international projects centred on e-NG, a fuel made from green hydrogen and recycled CO₂. The company has described its ongoing projects as part of wider efforts to support the energy transition and provide large-scale green energy solutions.
“Paul’s financial expertise will be an important asset as TES moves through its next phase of growth,” said TES Chairmen Marcel and Paul van Poecke and CEO Marco Alverà in a joint statement.
Smith said he was looking forward to joining the company at a significant time. “The vision to deliver e-NG at scale and help decarbonise the global energy system is one I deeply share. I look forward to contributing to TES’ mission and working with the team to provide secure, affordable, and clean energy as part of a responsible transition,” he commented.
