Türkiye, Ankara: Türkiye plans to hold its first offshore wind auctions in the first quarter of 2027, marking the country’s first competitive tender round for offshore wind development.
The auctions are expected to be formally announced in September and will be conducted under Türkiye’s Renewable Energy Resource Zones (YEKA) mechanism.
Draft tender specifications have already been published by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for public consultation. Industry stakeholders, investors and other organisations have been invited to submit feedback before the final terms are prepared.
Türkiye has identified four priority offshore areas for future development: Saros Bay, Gökçeada, Bozcaada and an area off Edremit. Technical and administrative work is underway to designate these locations formally as offshore wind YEKA zones.
Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said the programme is intended to support energy security, industrial development and employment alongside new renewable generation.
Türkiye has set a target of reaching 5,000 MW of offshore wind capacity by 2035.
The offshore wind initiative forms part of a wider renewable energy expansion programme. Türkiye has also announced a 2.4 GW capacity quota for new solar and onshore wind auctions in the 2026 round.
