Portugal: WEG is continuing to expand its manufacturing presence in Portugal with the construction of a new 7,500 m² logistics warehouse, reinforcing the site’s importance within its European network. The investment increases operational capacity while releasing key space to enhance the production of medium- and high-voltage motors, allowing for faster and more competitive delivery times for demanding industrial needs.
As global industries push for transformation, WEG provides solutions focused on efficiency, sustainability and innovation. In Europe, the Portuguese unit specialises in project and service management for advanced energy systems, supporting power grids with a wide range of technologies. These include motors, frequency drives, transformers, synchronous condensers, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and electric vehicle charging solutions.
While manufacturing remains distributed across WEG’s global facilities, the Portugal operation plays a central role in engineering coordination, technical integration, logistics planning, installation support and lifecycle services across Europe.
The new expansion also opens the door for future local production of electric vehicle chargers, strengthening WEG’s position in electric mobility and supporting Europe’s energy transition.
This development aligns with WEG’s four key priorities: improving energy efficiency, boosting operational performance through automation and digitalisation, advancing renewable energy, and expanding electric mobility solutions.
With this investment, Portugal becomes an even more important hub for WEG in Europe, offering closer customer support, quicker response times and stronger engineering capabilities.
